We couldn’t wait to discover Laifen Swift. This Chinese hair dryer actually promises performance similar to that of the Dyson Supersonic, so much so that duels between the two devices are multiplying on social media.
Aesthetically, it does resemble the British hair dryer, but also the Dreame Hair Glory with slightly less quality coatings. Its thin and elongated body results in a very compact head, as the device measures 9cm at its widest part. On the scale, the trend is the same: the Laifen Swift weighs just 425g, compared to 709.2g for Calor Pro Expert For example.
Thanks to its lightness, the hair dryer provides a very good job. It’s also very well balanced, while the controls are easy to find while drying. A selector changes the power of the device to two levels, with a button to switch from one temperature to another. If we prefer selectors in both cases, more intuitive when drying, this is already the option chosen by Dreame.
The Swift, on the other hand, takes the other side of this configuration by adding a head-level light ring. It glows blue in cold mode, orange for intermediate temperature (50°C) and red for maximum heat (80°C). End mode alternates between hot and cold air; To activate it, just hold the mode button for a few seconds. If it’s just a detail, this ring lets you quickly know the activated mode.
That being said, neither command activates cooldown mode quickly. The user then has to click several times to return to the desired mode.
In its classic version, the Laifen Swift comes with a simple hub that is quite thin. The device is additionally equipped in its special version with an additional concentrator and diffuser. It’s the least you can do to make sure the hair dryer fits as many heads as possible.
Finally, unlike other competitors such as Babyliss Air Wand the Laifen Swift’s power cord runs below the 2m mark (1.82m to be exact).
