“Piraeus Taste Festival”: An excellent culinary festival in Piraeus

The 3rd Piraeus Municipality Gastronomic Festival starts today, September 27th until Sunday, September 29th, 2024.

The third gastronomic festival of the municipality of Piraeus, «FESTIVAL OF TASTE IN PIRAEUS, seafood and much more»the feast of gastronomy with traditional and modern tastes, cultural events and international participations, returns to the great port from today Friday 27 to Sunday 29 September, highlighting the most beautiful corners of Piraeus and turning the city into an important pillar of gastronomy at sea.

Award-winning chefs and renowned masters from Greece and abroad present the culinary imprint of Piraeus and create flavors that combine tradition with modern gourmet cuisine.

The festival events start on the afternoon of Friday 27 September from Mikrolimanos and culminate over the weekend in the central parts of the city, Korai Square, Piraiki, Marina Zeas and Pasalimani, with culinary events focusing on traditional and modern recipes from the sea.

As part of the festival, from Friday 27th September to Sunday 6th October, Pasalimani will host the Piraeus Taste Fair culinary exhibition with exquisite offerings from the Greek land.

* “THE FESTIVAL OF TASTE IN PIRAEUS, seafood and much more”, in addition to highlighting the culinary identity and heritage of Piraeus, shaped by its relationship with the liquid element, aims at the proper management of food and natural resources in the context of sustainability and “Zero Food Waste”.

MIKROLIMANO – opening ceremony “FESTIVAL OF TASTE IN PIREA, seafood and much more”

Friday, September 27, 6:30 p.m
In one of the most beautiful places in Piraeus, Mikrolimano, on Friday, September 27, at 18:30, the opening ceremony of the festival will be held with the event “THE TASTE OF PIRAEUS”, where visitors will watch live culinary shows with flavors inspired from Piraeus.

Their culinary imprint is given by popular and famous chefs, chef Dimitris Scarmotsos and pastry chef Stefanos Diamantopoulos.

PASSALIMANI

Special products from the Greek land, traditional culinary tastes, fine delicacies, gourmet offers and superfoods host the “Piraeus Taste Fair” at the Pasallimani Culinary Exhibition from Friday 27 September to Sunday 6 October. The opening will take place on September 28, Saturday, at 19:00.

Unique recipes, with a live culinary show and tasting of fine dishes will be enjoyed by young and old on Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29, from 7:00 p.m., in Koray Square, combined with a screening of favorite films, from 20:00 at the outdoor cinema in the square. An action carried out in collaboration with the Municipality of Piraeus and the chefs of the Acropolis Chefs Club of Attica.

A multinational culinary event with tastings and interactive events for all ages, will take place on September 28, Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. in Koray Square.

Five of the best chefs in the world, in collaboration with the Municipality of Piraeus and the embassies of Indonesia, Peru, China, the Dominican Republic and Chile, offer us culinary creations with unique exotic flavors from their native places, using techniques and secrets of traditional cuisine.

In the cultural program, traditional dance and music performances from the participating countries will bring their culture and customs to life. Artists in folk costumes will present impressive dances and musical compositions, creating a warm and multicultural atmosphere.

RAKE FESTIVAL

PAPANICOLI SQUARE, MARINA ZEAS

Saturday, September 28, 8:00 p.m
Cretan cuisine will be celebrated at the “Raki Festival”, Saturday, September 28, from 20:00, at Marina Zeas. Visitors will have the opportunity to watch the traditional crawfish pot, plenty of brandy will be on offer, and appetizers and Cretan dishes will be prepared free of charge for attendees. Live music by Cretan instrumentalists and dancing will attract visitors to a great celebration.

*The event is held in collaboration with the Municipality of Piraeus and the Cretan Brotherhood of Piraeus “I OMONOIA”.

CHILDREN’S COOKING PARTY

On September 29, Sunday, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Koray Square, the little chefs in hats and aprons will create delicious specialties and sweets, play and have fun in the appropriately designed areas of the square. Flavors worth trying, made with imagination, love and… a childlike approach.

Children will learn about materials and their proper management in a fun way while having fun with interactive activities, games and competitions with great prizes.

*A priority order will be observed for the participation of the little chefs in the “Kids Cooking Club” and confectionery workshop “All Chocolate Stories”.

SPARROW FESTIVAL

AFRODITIS BAY, Piraeus

Sunday, September 29, 8:00 p.m
With the “Festival of the Sparrow”, a big celebration of the island, the traditional celebration of the fishermen of Piraeus, on Sunday, September 29, from 20:00, the “Festival of Taste in Piraeus: Seafood and much more” brings down the curtain. Grilled fish, unique traditional flavors and an abundance of wine will delight Piraeus and the city’s guests. Nikos Fakaros and his orchestra take over the big traditional island celebration.

*The event is held in cooperation with the Municipality of Piraeus and the Association of Amateur Fishermen “AGIOS NIKOLAOS”.
