Discussion of the Hoteliers’ Association of Magnesia with the Regional Governor of Thessaly to improve Thessaly’s reputation and advertising campaign.
On Wednesday, July 10, 2024 in Larissaa working meeting was held Hoteliers’ Association of Magnesia with the regional governor of Thessaly, Mr Dimitris Kuretawhere the big problem with the bad reputation of our region was discussed and possible ways to deal with it on the part of Region of Thessaly.
The district governor has been asked to undertake the creation of an advertising campaign on radio and television as the only way to solve the problem immediately.
mr George Zafeiris representing the Hotel Association of Magnesia as well as the associations of Larisa, Trikala, Limni Plastira, as well as the Larisa Rental Accommodation Association, the Magnesia Rental Accommodation Owners Association, the Magnesia Chamber and the Magnesia Catering Association, he gave all the facts and explained the huge problem that exists in all regions with the reduction in bookings and revenue so far from the tourist season which has started late, but also the progress of advance bookings which has been reduced by many percentages.
In the context of the meeting, it was explained in all tones that the business of Magnesia and Thessaly as a whole is in dire financial straits, facing a multi-year financial crisis, the Covid crisis and the subsequent devastating fires and floods.
It became clear to the regional governor that the businesses of Magnesia and Thessaly as a whole have not yet received financial assistance for their loss of income, that they have launched the “Thessaly pass” and “Social tourism” programs (at the request of the hotel Association of Magnesia, which was adopted for 12 nights for the first time in Thessaly without the participation of beneficiaries), but that these measures would not be effective due to widespread fear.
“We thanked the regional governor for the immediate reaction at the press conference that took place on the measurements and announcement of clean water in Magnesia and Thessaly, but we pointed out that this is not enough to reverse the climate. We also thank the regional governor for the immediate response to the appointment we requested,” the Union of Hoteliers “Magnesia” states.
A new meeting has been arranged with the regional governor’s tourism adviser, Mrs Maya Chokli, to deal with this pressing problem immediately. Also discussed was the strengthening of flights to and from Central Greece Airport in N. Agialos, actions that we need to start immediately to make up the backlog next year.
