The first will arrive on the 15th of July and the second on the 31st. Therefore, you should be able to try the Zen 5 next month.
In early June, AMD introduced its first two series of Zen 5 consumer processors: Ryzen 9000 for desktops et Ryzen AI 300 for laptops. During the announcement, the company simply announced a launch month, namely July. Now we have much more accurate dates.
No vacation in July for AMD
They are not coming from AMD yet, but rather from retailers from different countries (US, Canada, and the Philippines). All agree on the launch of the first laptops equipped with Ryzen AI 300 series processors, codenamed “Strix Point”, on July 15. As for the Ryzen 9000, codenamed “Granite Ridge,” AMD has promised a release before July 31; this leak will be the deadline chosen by the company to release its desktop processors – at least to start the pre-orders, if we are to rely on the text below.
These indiscretions also give little insight into pricing, which has yet to be officially announced by AMD. These are logically quite variable depending on the retailer and their country of origin. Roughly speaking, they range from €295 for the Ryzen 9 9600X to around €600 for the Ryzen 9 9950X. These amounts should not be taken at face value; at first glance, they still suggest a relative status quo compared to the Ryzen 7000X’s entry-level prices.
As for the Ryzen AI 300 series, Best Buy is showing the Asus Zenbook S 16 equipped with the Ryzen AI 9 365 paired with 24GB of RAM and a 3K OLED touchscreen for $1,399 or €1,301 in raw conversion. Prices, of course, will be related to the characteristics of the laptops, but it is difficult to consider cheap machines – at least initially.
First waves of Ryzen Zen 5
A few digressions for the finale. Know that for players, Ryzen 9000X will not outperform Ryzen 7000X3D – by AMD’s own admission. As a result, and also undoubtedly to counter the upcoming Core Arrow Lake, the company plans to release the Ryzen 9000X3D quite quickly.
Additionally, regarding the Ryzen AI 300 series, a Geekbench entry recently certified to boost graphics performance for the Radeon 890M iGPU. Marketing communication from GPD for its new Duo Dual OLED PC armed with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 reinforced that assessment with a 3DMark Time Spy score of 4,221 points.
