Dimitris Fragakis took over as president of the Attica Development Company with the aim of promoting Attica as a leading tourist destination.
mr Dimitris Fragakis who resigned as General Secretary of the EOT a few weeks ago. According to him, the goal is to make the country’s largest region the first and best tourist destination.
“At a time of great challenges and changes in the tourism model, we will work systematically to ensure that the wider capital region can use all the opportunities it has to play a leading role in tourism and culture. Together with the infrastructure and projects already launched by the regional authorities, we are giving a new breath of development to Attica and its citizens, while at the same time taking care of our visitors.
I want to thank the regional governor Nikos Hardalia for the trust and I am committed to do my best together with the entire team of the region to succeed,” stressed Mr. Fragakis.
Mr. Dimitris Fragakis was born on July 13, 1972. He comes from Platanias, Crete and grew up in Chania. He holds a master’s degree from the Faculty of Law and Political Science of the University of Athens and a degree in history from the Athens School of Philosophy.
He speaks excellent English and good Italian. He worked for 20 years, among other things, as Deputy Director General of the K. Mitsotakis Foundation (2000-2004), as Research Assistant to Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the Parliament (2004-2013) and as his Advisor at the Ministry of Administration reform (2013-2014). Manages a small and medium-sized tourism business.
On 28 August 2019, he assumed the duties of Secretary General of the Hellenic Tourism Organization (EOT) under the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis. He remained in this post until July 2024, when he resigned.
