Radeon RX 8800 XT, 8700 XT and 8600 XT, first assessment of their specifications

New leaks surrounding AMD’s next generation of gaming graphics cards, the Radeon RX 8000 series, provide details on Infinity Cache. Combined with previous information, a first overview of the entire range is possible. Be careful though, all of this is yet to be confirmed.

The family of Radeon RX 8000 series will take advantage of the RDNA 4 Evolution architecture of the RDNA 3 (Radeon RX 7000 series), is expected to focus on the heart of demand, namely the entry-level and mid-range.

Radeon RX 8000 series, bilan

It has been reported that these new AMD graphics cards will be equipped with three different memory configurations with 256-bit GDDR6 20 Gbit/s, 256-bit GDDR6 18 Gbit/s or 192-bit GDDR6 19 Gbit/s. These GPUs should not use GDDR7. Equally important is the size of the Infinity Cache.

Current generation GPUs (Radeon RX 7000 series) are equipped with Infinity Cache from 32 MB (Navi 33) to 96 MB (Navi 31). According to Kepler, the Navi 44 XT GPU will be equipped with 48 MB of Infinity Cache, compared to 64 MB for the Navi 48 XT and Navi 48 XTX.

Knowing that AMD introduced second generation Infinity cache with RDNA 3, it is therefore possible that RDNA 4 will use third generation Infinity cache. Note that the RDNA 4 should not take advantage of the MCM (Multi-Chip-Module) design, which means that the memory controllers and Infinity Cache will not be on separate dies.
