The iconic bridge in Paris that will soon be pedestrianized

This iconic bridge at Parish Lena bridge was temporarily closed to car traffic during the Olympics, but now only public transport and emergency vehicles will be allowed through.

It seems that the city of Paris wants to keep some things that happened or came about because of the Olympics, such as the announcement that the city’s mayor Anne Hidalgo wants to keep the Olympic circles on the Eiffel Tower. The same is now being sought to be done with the imposing Pont d’léna bridge.

Another theme of the prevailing games is the pedestrian zone of the Pont d’léna, one of the busiest bridges in the city, which connects the Eiffel Tower to the Palais de Chaillot. It was cleared of cars during the Olympics to make more room for the increased number of visitors who would cross it, and now this change has become permanent.

The bridge is crossed around 50,000 times a day and the city of Paris wants to ensure that the Eiffel Tower remains easily accessible and that the bridge is a safe place for visitors.

Paris authorities also want to ensure visitors can get better views of the city’s iconic monuments and reduce car traffic around them to improve the city’s pollution levels.

It’s worth noting that the bridge won’t be fully pedestrianized – buses and emergency vehicles still cross the bridge, so look both ways before crossing.
