It is a beautiful traditional village with stone houses, which is about 200 kilometers from Athens, i.e. about 2.5 hours by car if you are looking for a special excursion of several days or now with a view to the three days even for a day trip.
It is a mountain village in the municipality of Delphi in the prefecture of Fokida with few permanent residents… The reason for the beautiful Vargiani (until 1940 it was called Variani).
The village was built on the slopes of Mount Gerolekas on Parnassus at an altitude of 880 meters. It is an important and wonderful attraction of the area A fairy cave which is located in the middle of a rock in the southern part of the village and has stalactites and stalagmites.
It is offered to those who want to take a breath of peace and oxygen, go on an excursion in nature and enjoy refined home-made delicacies in the several taverns of the village. And all this within walking distance of Athens.

The village also has historical significance, as during the years of the revolution of 1821 it raised two heroes, Captain Liapis and Nikos Balaura. Vargiani was almost abandoned in the 1960s, until in recent years many of its old houses were bought by mainly townspeople, who revived Vargiani and its current form.
Sights
The Burbula springs under the plane trees, the folklore museum of Vargianis, the aqueduct and the village square are places worth seeing. The trail starts from Vargiani and ends at A fairy cave the imposing and unknown cave in which there are lakes of water.
The village celebrates on July 26, the day of Agia Paraskevi, in the central church of the village of the same name, a day on which a festival is held every year in Vargiani.
