Microsoft has officially released Windows 11 24H2 aka Windows 11 2024 for eligible devices. This update brings performance improvements, security and introduces new features.
Available today via Windows Update, it will be rolled out gradually, starting with devices that have enabled “Get the latest updates as soon as they become available”.

Windows 11 versions 22H2 and 23H2 are eligible for this update through Windows Update.
What to do if the update does not appear?
There could be several reasons such as software or hardware incompatibility. Microsoft has identified six known issues.
- The Safe Exam Browser application may not open,
- Some devices using Easy Anti-Cheat stop responding and get a blue screen,
- Fingerprint sensors may have issues after locking a device,
- Wallpaper customization apps may not work as expected,
- Compatibility issues with Intel Smart Sound Technology drivers,
- Asphalt 8 may periodically stop responding,
How to get the update?
The operating system is deployed through various distribution channels. In addition to the Windows Update service in Windows 11, you can use media creation tool to create installation media or the program Installation Assistant to upgrade your system.
Can Windows 11 24H2 be installed on incompatible devices?
It is possible to install the update on inappropriate devices by editing the registry, although this may pose a risk. System backup is recommended before installation.
How long is Windows 11 2024 supported?
This release will benefit from 24 months of support for the Home and Pro editions, while the Enterprise LTSC 2024 editions will have a support duration of 10 years. In turn, Windows 11 22H2 is no longer supported this month, and Windows 11 23H2 will be supported for another year.
For professionals, the update is available through Windows Server Update Services, Windows Update for Business, and the Microsoft 365 admin center. This release marks the availability of Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 2024, which has been supported for 10 years.

All PCs, whether AI-enabled or not, will benefit from support for Wi-Fi 7, improved power saving mode, support for HDR backgrounds, as well as various improvements to File Explorer and system settings.
Copilot+ PCs will benefit from new AI-powered features such as Click to Do, which offers actions based on activity, and improvements to search, which lets you find files by simply describing what you’re looking for, even offline. Additionally, apps like Photos and Paint are getting AI-inspired updates, with features like Super Resolution to enhance photo quality (turning low-quality photos into high-quality versions by upscaling the definition by a factor of 8) and Generative Fill Paint to create of images using AI.
