Here is the return of an iconic brand with two new smartphones that will go up against Xiaomi, Samsung and Honor

Realme is back in France, but so far… it’s been a timid return. Here’s a big reveal since we unveiled the Realme GT6 and Realme GT6T. Two mid-range smartphones designed to take on Xiaomi, Samsung and Honor.

After returning to the French market, very shy, Realme reboots the machine. After the entry level with C65 and the mid-range with the Realme 12+, the manufacturer is launching its mid-range, the Realme GT6and its more powerful variation, Realme GT6T. The brand has big ambitions for these models, which it promises to be as affordable as they are efficient, and positions them as real competitors to Xiaomi, Honor and Samsung. with a price of 399 euros.

Elegant design and performance

The design of the Realme GT6 series plays the card of clean lines, with a metallic effect covered with Gorilla Glass Victus 2. It is designed to be as aesthetic as it is to resist scratches and water splashes. They come in silver and green with an aesthetic finish that’s hard to deny. The three round photoblocks on the back really stand out from the rest of the case.

The Realme GT6 and GT6T respectively integrate Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 (for GT6) and Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 (for GT6T) SoC, which reassures in terms of raw performance and smooth multitasking. It will need to be checked that the heating is controlled during the tests.

Extremely bright screen and special attention to photography

The Realme GT6 series wants to position itself as the one that offers the thinnest and brightest screens for less than 1000 euros. Therefore, the manufacturer equips its new smartphones with a screen Ultra bright. Behind this marketing name, Realme explains to us that the screens can reach 6000 nits at peak HDR. It’s huge, but you’ll need to check what the average measured SDR brightness is, that’s what really matters. In addition, with such brightness, Realme announces that HDR and Pro-XDR technologies enrich colors and contrasts, which should please streaming video enthusiasts and gamers. Add to that the LTPO 8T technology, which enables intelligent control of the refresh rate, reducing power consumption by up to 20%.

In this price segment, photography often fails. The Realme GT6 is equipped with a 50-megapixel primary camera with Super OIS and a Sony LYT-808 sensor. This means it should focus quickly and accurately, while performing well in low light. On paper it’s interesting.

There are also heaps of denominations and other technical terms: technologies such as DOL-HDR, LBMF and Dual Native ISO would allow for sharp and detailed captures, both for photos and for videos that can be shot in 4K definition with Dolby Vision. There’s also a telephoto lens for 2x and 4x theoretical lossless zoom. Many promises and technologies have been announced, but we’ll have to see the results on the ground to get an idea. Let’s note that Realme often lags behind in the field of photography despite great progress. So they have a lot to prove.

Extended battery life and fast charging

The GT6 series features a 5500 mAh dual-cell battery and 120 W SUPERVOOC fast charging technology. There is no wireless charging, which is one of the compromises to be made.

This configuration allows you to recharge the phone to 50% in just 10 minutes and complete the charge in 26 minutes, providing two days of battery life. Battery Sense Voltmeter technology provides optimal charge management to extend battery life.
