Three years after the end of free drinks on short and medium-haul flights in economy class, Lufthansa consider refunding this offer.
The airline is already trialling free drinks on European flights in July, offering coffee and tea. As reported by Frankfurtflyer.de, the full range of drinks will be served free of charge on selected flights in September. This means that soft drinks as well as wine and beer are now available on board these flights at no extra cost.
According to a Lufthansa representative, this pilot program will then be evaluated in the context of customer satisfaction analyses. In the pilot phase, only snacks and fresh food will be sold.
In the summer of 2021, the airline introduced paid in-flight catering for short- and medium-haul flights in its “Onboard Delights” product line. These are cross-border flights of approximately one hour or more.
