Georgia could become the surprise summer hotspot of 2025 as BA and easyJet launch direct flights from London.
Traveling from the UK to Georgia will be direct and much faster with new direct flights.
The new routes from Heathrow and Luton they will reduce the flight time from about eight hours to five hours.
With its mosaic of cultures and delicious cuisine, the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi is an increasingly popular holiday destination for the British.
But the lack of direct flights from London – meaning journeys longer than 8 hours – is a frustrating factor for some travellers.
To meet the growing appetite for holidays in Georgia, British Airways and easyJet have announced direct flights to the transcontinental country.
Flagship carrier BA begins flights from London Heathrow to Tbilisi from March 30, 2025, with low-cost carrier easyJet also covering the gap from London Luton from 1 April.
“We are proud that the British Airways flagship has decided to enter the Georgian market, which is an important recognition for our country,” said Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
“This will significantly raise awareness of Georgia in the UK market and improve the relationship with the US, which is Georgia’s strategic partner.”

British Airways will operate four flights a week from March 30 throughout the summer season – double that of big rival easyJet, which has been flying twice a week since April.
Return BA flights from London Heathrow start from £275 (€327) plus baggage and seat charges. Other vacation packages are available.
“We are delighted to welcome Tbilisi back to our route network, following our last scheduled service in 2013,” said Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ head of planning and strategy.
“We expect this to be a popular route with the leisure market, which has seen a strong return from 2019, as well as those looking to enjoy direct flights to visit friends and family.”
For easyJet, this is the first time the carrier flies to the Georgian capital.
Flights will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, throughout the summer season. So far, a ticket for the first departure flight costs €114 with additional baggage and seat fees.
Direct flights will take around 5 hours. This is good news for Brits looking to expand their horizons in the Caucasus, and also opens up new connections for travelers elsewhere. BA says the flight times will be offered for direct connections to US destinations such as New York. While EasyJet is also launching new routes to Tbilisi from Geneva and Milan (Malpensa).
Why is Georgia a popular destination?
With one foot in Eastern Europe and another in Western Asia, Georgia is known for its fascinating blend of medieval and Soviet culture.
The country proudly claims to be the birthplace of wine, with 8,000 years of winemaking history and plenty of great places to try it.
On the banks of the Mtkvari River, surrounded by hills and the Caucasus Mountains to the north, Tbilisi offers a unique city break.
Wandering the cobbled streets is an activity in itself, with many more options.
BA notes that the gorges and caves near Kutaisi and several UNESCO World Heritage sites are also easily accessible from Tbilisi for adventurous visitors to Georgia.
