A study by Compare the Market assessed the costs of food, transport and accommodation in a range of destinations and came up with the most affordable city breaks for this autumn.
Although the end of this year is getting closer with each passing day, it’s not too late to plan a city break in Europe to ensure you have a break before the holidays! Of course, booking last minute can be more expensive, but if you know where to look, it might not be!
Compare the Market analyzes some key indicators to determine where in Europe is the most affordable to visit, including the cost per person for food, local transport and Airbnb accommodation (along with the number of Instagram posts for each city, so this is important to many, the truth is).
Claiming the title as the most economical destination in Europe, the winner is Constantinople the bustling capital of Turkey. With an average meal costing only around €8, a one-way transfer ticket only around €0.50 and Airbnbs averaging a reasonable €70-80 per night, no wonder! here The 15 best things to do and see in Istanbul.
It is in second place Warsaw of Poland which has an average price per night on Airbnb of only 70 euros, and is in third place Budapest where a meal for one is around €9 – €10. Poland also ranked fourth with Krakow. There are even two Greek destinations on the list, the Heraklion of Crete in 6th place and Athens in the 8th.
However, the list includes some more expensive cities that probably made the ranking thanks to their (huge) number of Instagram posts, such as Vienna (in fourteenth place) and Paris (in fifteenth place). Check out the rest of the list below:
