The second half of 2024 promises to be an important period for Apple. Along with the release of on the iPhone 16 and what follows Apple Intelligence the American firm will aim to switch all its computers to the new M4 chip. If that’s the case, it would be the first time Apple has equipped its entire lineup with the same processor at the same time.
Mac mini smaller than ever?
However, apart from the addition of the new processors, other modifications will also be considered. According to Bloomberg journalist Mark German, at least one Mac model will benefit from more significant changes. And although it is possible that these modifications affect the design of MacBook Pro more likely to affect the Mac Mini.
Apple’s smallest computer could get even more compact. A redesign seems essential, especially since the Mac Mini hasn’t been redesigned since 2010. Its size can be closer to that of Apple TV (less than ten centimetres in diameter), while improving its performance thanks to the Apple Silicon M4 chip.
Smaller but more efficient
Although slightly taller than the current version, this new Mac mini will have a smaller footprint. The new version will also ditch the M3 chip in favor of Apple’s brand new processor. Mark Gurman reports that developers working on the new Mac Mini are talking about “iPad Pro in a small box».
With a new design and a significant increase in power, the price will likely be higher, but still lower than a new MacBook. There will also be two new versions of the Mac Mini, one with a more basic configuration and the other with a higher end.
