Thea new AI assistant from Google Gemini live is now available to all Android users, providing more interactive and natural conversations.
It gives you the opportunity to intervene at any time, interrupt the assistant during a reaction, consult the transcriptions of your exchanges or use the AI in the background or from the lock screen.
Gemini Live is currently only available through the Gemini app for Android.
If you need to use your phone to do something else while talking with Gemini Live, know that it’s possible to continue interacting in the background while using other apps.
To do this, first enable Gemini Live notifications. Go to Settings, select Notifications, tap Notifications for apps, then select Google. If the All Google Notifications switch is off, turn it on, then do the same for the Gemini switch if it’s off.
To use AI in the background, start a Gemini Live session and exit the app. Swipe down from the top of the screen and an alert will appear indicating that Gemini is active in live mode. You can then continue the conversation while you perform other tasks on your phone. To return to full screen mode, swipe down and tap the Live with Gemini panel.
