Among the many features of WhatsApp we can find one that allows you to share your location in real time. It’s even possible to set a timer so a location file is sent to a group when the phone turns off. This tool can be very useful, especially to make it easier to reach someone or quickly find a loved one in the event of a problem or accident.
However, what should you do when you want to know the location of one of your contacts without them knowing? Here are 2 very simple and quick tips.
Secretly find someone on WhatsApp from their computer
Simultaneously press Ctrl+Alt+Del to launch the task manager, once it’s open, right-click to show the PID (Process ID) column, finally look in the list of applications for PID replies on WhatsApp.
Then press Win+R then enter cmd in the empty field and confirm with the key Appetizer. Once you’re done, type “netstat -yes” in the CMD window and then on “Appetizer” to execute the command. In the list that appears, find the line with the PID found above, then you will be able to get the IP address of the person in question.
Find a person’s WhatsApp location from their smartphone
To do this, you can use any online service that allows you to identify and locate the IP address.
Update
This trick was still possible until a month ago, early November 2023 to be exact, when WhatsApp introduced a protection called “Call IP Address Protection” to counter this trick. However, this security option is not enabled by default, so it will need to be enabled for this tip to be ineffective.
After the option is activated, all WhatsApp conversations will go through their server, therefore through their own IP address, which when passing significantly reduces the sound quality, especially in conversations between correspondents separated by several thousand kilometers, this is probably for this reason this option is not enabled by default, as a direct connection is usually better than going through an intermediary server, however fast it may be. Therefore, this tip will only allow you to get the IP address of the server the user is connected to if this option is active.
